Corporate Philanthropy
Doing well as a company by doing good for the Society.
Giving back to the community as much as we can has always been a strong belief in the heart of our business. Through the years, C&M has grown to become a leading importer and distributor in Asia-Pacific. Here at C&M, we believe that the greater our presence, the greater our responsibility—and the greater our opportunity to make a real difference. For us, CSR is an ongoing journey, not a destination.

C&M has had the privilege of working hand-in-hand with The Apex Club of Singapore (Bukit Timah) since 2009, bringing cheer and smiles to the elderly every year.
The Apex Club of Singapore (Bukit Timah) initiated the 'Redhill Blk 89 Food Distribution Programme' since June 1988. From the initial number of 60 when they first took over, the number of benficiaries have increased to over 280 (170 from Redhill, 130 from Kim Tian) elderly residents. The project is managed and ran entirely by volunteers with no expenditure on administration and manpower costs. Every dollar raised goes directly to the beneficiaries.
Besides weekly food distribution, Apex Bukit Timah also organizes and co-ordinates outings for the elderly especially during festive periods where they would receive invitations to dinners or other special events. Through their service projects, awareness and fundraising efforts, Apex Bukit Timah aims to better the health and wellness of the elderly residents.
As the founder of Chemicals & Machinery Pte Ltd (since 1974), and an alumnus of the NUS Faculty of Science, the late Mr. Kwan Fook Ngah was an inspiring individual who taught us to work hard and persevere through adversity. Mdm. Kum Lai Yoke initiated this Bursary, with a contribution of S$150,000, in memory of her late husband to remind us that with a can-do attitude, you can achieve your dreams, regardless of circumstances.
The Kwan Fook Ngah & Kum Lai Yoke Bursary was established to recognize outstanding full-time undergraduate students in their second-year onwards at the Faculty of Science, with a preference for students majoring in Chemistry and who are in need of financial assistance as determined by the Dean's Office.

- India
Over the years, C&M has generously shown support to the less fortunate in our neighbouring Asian countries. Some of our charitable efforts include donating money and food to welfare organisations such as the Holy Tree Sri Balasubramaniar Temple.
In the month of Karthikai, C&M was honored to provide food as Annathanam to poor people in a village on 25 November 2015, at Siddha Sivanantha Paramahamsa Eillam, Kuruvekulam, India. This occasion was graced by Guest-of-Honor, Sri Sirumalai Sannithanam, Srirungari mut.
- Myanmar
The Shwe Myintzu Num Pariyati Sarthin Taik is a nunnery which also welcomes orphans and provides a conducive sanctuary for them to study in.
Due to space constraints and limitation of amenities, the children are forced out of their overcrowding orphanage, which is located right beside the nunnery. While they are actively raising funds to rebuild their home, they have temporarily taken shelter at the nunnery where they live and learn.
Some of our recent efforts to provide assistance came in the form of monetary donation and gifts in kind. Clothes, uniforms, and stationeries were gifted to the children in Shwe Myintzu Nun Pariyati Sarthin Taik in hopes of helping them with their studies and improving their living conditions.
A representative of C&M spreading the goodwill and well wishes. It warms our hearts to see a smile on the children’s faces and C&M hopes to continue reaching more people in need, making a difference one small step at a time.
